Argon gas is the most popular gas used in the air spaces of replacement windows. The gas is actually heavier and more dense than air so the manufacturers can infuse into the air spaces. They use a pin type apparatus with a tank of the gas to allow the flow of the energy efficient gas in to the chambers.

The effect of the argon gas is that it increases the energy ratings of the windows which means that the homeowner can benefit with lower utility bills. The approximate increase in r-value is about 30 percent than a dual glaze window without the argon gas.

Usually argon is coupled with low e glass insulated windows. The low e has the effect of diminishing the damaging ultra violet rays from the sun and simultaneously increases the energy performance of the window. The combination of the low e and argon gas will increase the energy performance by about 40% over the dual glaze window without these energy savings options.

Replacement Windows Chicago are using the argon and low e combination as the most popular energy savings package. With the rising cost of fuel vinyl windows Chicago have needed the most fuel bill reduction windows that they can invest in.
